Pipestem, WV – Appalachian South Folklife Center will host the 14th annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 22 from 11 a.m to 11 p.m. The event will feature live music, demonstrations, a panel discussion, speakers and creative activities at the beautiful facility in Pipestem, which celebrated its 50th Anniversary last year.
The day will feature a demonstration by Three Rivers Avian Center with live falcons, owls, a hawk and a bald eagle. There will be live music performances by Kathleen Coffee, Option 22, The Change, Tim & Maggie and The Magnum Opus. A panel discussion entitled “Plant Medicine, Regenerative Farming, and Opportunities for Economic Growth in WV” will feature guest panelists Stacey Sude, Lori Quesenberry and others. Quesenberry of Bearz Mountain Apothecary will lead a native plant walk to start the day and Windhorse Healing Arts Center will present a sound healing and peace meditation activity. There will be craft activities, a yoga class, drum circles, artisan vendors, informative tables, speakers, a chance to work in the community garden and more.
The day’s events are free of charge. Delicious food will be available for purchase served by Oi Polii, a food truck which is preparing to launch the rebirth of the iconic Jimmie’s Restaurant in downtown Princeton.
Organizers say the best part of the day is experiencing the unmatched beauty and breathtaking mountain views at the Appalachian South Folklife Center. The facility features swing sets and open fields, and people of all ages are encouraged to attend. The day’s activities are free of charge and are sponsored by LLyniuM entertainment.
