Mid-Ohio Valley Players to close out season with non-traditional comedy

By Staff | Jun 2, 2014

The Mid-Ohio Valley Players is proud to announce the performance dates for their season-ending show, The Complete History of America: Abridged. Originally performed by the Reduced Shakespeare Company, TCWOA:A has been described as “intellectual Vaudeville” and “a nonstop romp through 50,000 years of satirical American history.

In this 90 minute show, our six actors will give you Native American tales, Washington and his Minute Men, historical conspiracies, and many other segments of our shared national history. Different than a traditional play, this production is presentational, with most of the dialogue in-between and during skits spoken to the audience.

“I think the audience will have a bit of fun with this. We ask the audience questions, we get them moving around, and when have you ever gone to a show where you get to shoot at the actors with a water pistol?” says Kevin Paskawych, the show’s director. “We have six enormously talented actors who are really giving this their all. The show is a very modern-themed comedy, and we poke fun at everything from George W. Bush and Bill Clinton to the founding fathers, the colonists, and even Christopher Columbus and the first Americans.”

The show dates are June 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, at 8pm, and June 22 at 3pm.

*This show contains some adult-themed comedy situations and audience members may get shot with water guns
