From corner to corner, festivals abound in state

By Staff | May 25, 2011

From Arts on the River in Morgantown to the Mid-Ohio Valley Multicultural Festival in Parkersburg, there is no shortage of amazing things to do this summer in the Mountain State and other nearby areas.

Fans of every music genre, from jazz to bluegrass to straight-ahead rock, can get their groove on at All Good in Masontown, the Music in the Mountains Bluegrass Festival in Summersville, the Heritage Music Blues Fest in Wheeling or Rhythm, Blues and All That Jazz in Lewisburg.

Food fanatics can get a taste of fun at the Blackberry Festival in Nutter Fort, the 31st annual Honey Festival in Parkersburg, or the Golden Delicious Festival in Clay.

Those looking to try something new can experience Avalonfest (aka “Nakedfest”) at Avalon Nudist Resort, the Mothman Festival in Point Pleasant or the newest event campground, Alderwood, in Chloe, where events are planned all summer, from Bluegrass on the Rocks to the state’s only drumming event, Big Drum.

Beginning in May with the Three Rivers Festival in Fairmont and going right through September to Volcano Days in Waverly, if you are bored this summer, you aren’t trying very hard.

So check out the list below, get your butt outside and enjoy all that our great state has to offer! And for more awesome events, check out our Get Out and Get Down calendar in this month’s issue, on newsstands now.
