Song of the Day: ‘Work for the Government’ by Central Services
Columbus-based rapper and producer Camu Tao died from lung cancer in 2008 before ever releasing his solo debut for Definitive Jux.
That album’s still not out, though it’s said to be coming out tomorrow. In the meantime, check out Camu’s team-up with El-P as the group Central Services.
It’s light on hip-hop, though the influences are definitely there. Instead, imagine El-P coming out with his own brand of Gnarls Barkley and you have some idea of what Central Services sounds like: funky, soulful, eccentric and with a touch of industrial influences.
The EP from Central Services, "forever frozen in television time," is available right as a free download, so you if you like what you hear here you should definitely get the EP.
