Song of the Day: “Go Outside,” Cults
Today’s breezy, Swedish pop-inspired song comes from a band with nearly no Internet presence.
You won’t find Cults on Myspace. They don’t have their own website. Pitchfork found out t hey’re a boy/girl duo in New York with a single 7" release, but that’s about it.
It doesn’t matter though because their single "Go Outside" is heavenly.
Ominously enough though the song starts off with a Jim Jones quote before whisking away into its repeated refrain: "You really want to hole up/ You really want to stay inside and sleep the light away."
The ethereal vocals, appealingly lazy bassline, handclaps and glockenspiel all combine to make the thought of sleeping a summer day away sounding more wonderful than ever before.
If you like what you hear, you can download the 7" for free at the bandcamp site.
