What’s in a stripper’s iPod?
(Editor’s note: To protect her privacy, Dylan asked not to be photographed)
Dylan, a 21-year-old from Petersburg, W.Va., is a dancer at Legz Club in Morgantown. She has been dancing with Legz Club for three and a half years, but she’s been at the Morgantown club since it opened in May 2008. Here’s what Dylan’s been listening to on and off the stage.
“Making Good Love”
Avant
“This is just a classic song about passionate love making, that’s all there is to it.”
“Body On Me”
Nelly
“This song is basically about a guy seeing a girl and wanting to get to know her, and hopefully get some lovin’ out of it. Nelly starts the song right off with ‘Hey how you doin’ mama? I need to know your name. You givin’ me the eye-eye, I’m givin’ you the same.’ It’s just a sexy song.”
“She Only Smokes When She Drinks”
Joe Nichols
“This is a country song, and a bit slower, but I love to dance to it. People have a certain perception of girls who dance at a strip club, but I like when the lyrics say ‘Yeah this is that kind of place, but she ain’t that kind of girl.’”
“Hold My Hand”
Akon
“This is just a sweet song. It’s about how the guy is always going to be there for his girl and nothing is ever going to get in the way of that.”
“Trading Places”
Usher
“I like this song because it’s different. It’s got a sexy beat, and it’s basically about the girl coming to pick the guy up and take him out on a date, which explains the title of the song. The words say it all … ‘Now we’re gonna do this thing a little different tonight, you’re gonna come over and pick me up in your ride, you gonna knock, then you gonna wait, ooh you gonna take me on a date.’ It’s something I feel like I’ve never really heard before.”
