The Midnight Library delivers best spooky content
In the past several months, I decided to delve into the world of podcasts after several feelings of skepticism. But I found the perfect one and I am so glad I did because it produces the best, spooky content.
The Midnight Library is a fictional location where its host Miranda Merrick delivers historic, factual information about all things macabre and creepy. It’s set up in a ASMR fashion, which, if you don’t know, involves relaxing and life-like noises meant to immerse listeners into the story.
Merrick is joined by Mr. Darling, a werewolf who escorts guests to and from the library. The first episode I listened to was about the Paris catacombs and I was immediately hooked. I was entranced by Miranda’s soothing but sometimes mischievous voice and witchy laughter.
It touches on various topics such as beheadings, vampires, graveyards, gargoyles and human leatherbound books. Basically, all of the things I’m interested in. It seems like the content creator’s asked me what type of show I’d want to hear and this hits the spot.
The storytelling is phenomenal and seems to be unlike very many other podcasts out there. I’ve tried to find similar shows but have not yet come across one that ticks all the boxes like the Midnight Library does.
One of the coolest thing about the show is their “sponsors” which are made-up businesses like the Broom and Fang Pub, the League of Lady Gravediggers and Grim’s Grocers, situated at the corner of Vincent and Price. During the episode, Miranda pauses to say a few words from the sponsors that change with each episode and feature witty rhymes and phrases.
The entire podcast is just *chef’s kiss.* I highly recommend it for spooky lovers like myself.
