Creepy nanny story takes many twists, turns

By Staff | Apr 30, 2014

A twisting thriller will keep readers on the edge of their seat throughout “Until You’re Mine” by Samantha Hayes.

In the opening chapter, a young girl wants to have a baby no matter what, to make up for the lack of love she feels from her parents. And in the following chapters, we soon learn just how far someone will go to have a baby.

Claudia Morgan-Brown seems to have finally gotten her wish for a family. A stepmom to two young boys and expecting her own child with her new husband, Claudia is hesitant to hire a nanny, but needs someone while she keeps up with the demands of her social worker job. The young woman, Zoe, who answers her ad, seems almost too good to be true, with impeccable references and an instant rapport with the children.

Claudia’s husband, James, thinks her fears are unwarranted and caused by hormones, and he wants someone around to help when he gets shipped off to sea again for his career as a naval captain. Zoe is hired and Claudia tries to put her fears to rest.

When one of Claudia’s cases ends up dead, she is contacted by policewoman Lorraine, who is feeling the stress of a troubled home and worklife with her husband, who is a police captain. But someone is butchering pregnant women and their children and Lorraine is determined to put a killer behind bars.

As the story progresses, it becomes more and more obvious that not all is as it seems with Claudia, Zoe and Lorraine. But the story is weaving its way to a showdown that no one expected!

This is a tense story, as the beginning sets you up that someone is a killer and the reader is left anticipating the next attack all while everyone involved seems to be doing something suspicious. The tension and plot twists are weaved wonderfully throughout, and not everything is figured out until the very last page. Just when you think you have everything figured out, you’re wrong, which is just how I like my thrillers!
