Return of the ... robots

“Robots” by Flight of the Conchords — In the distant future, the year 2000, we will be ruled by robots. There will be no more unhappiness and no more unethical treatment of the elephants. Well, there are no more elephants.  And the humans, finally, will be dead.

Paulie’s robot from the latter Rocky movies — Deep down our hearts have always belonged to Uncle Paulie’s robot, Sico. Maybe part of us was jealous of Paulie and Sico’s weird relationship, with Paulie calling Sico his “girl,” Sico serving him a birthday cake and later following Ivan Drago around the streets. Oh for robot love to be in vogue again.

Robotic fears — Sure, we love us some robots but when’s the last time we freaked out about robots actually, literally, taking over more and more of our lives, doing the jobs we once used to do with ease and efficiency till one day we’re rendered useless? Not long enough. Excuse us, while we whimper in the corner and try to manufacture real tears.

Let’s play a game called Daddy’s too tired to play catch so why don’t you go play with your video games and their artificial intelligence that’s so real you’ll forget all about human interaction and will likely one day kill me because I’ve neglected you and you’ve been desensitized to violence thanks to games like Halo 3. — Oh, who are we kidding? Video games don’t incite violence.

Cyclops glasses — Believe it or not we had one of those sets of sunglasses in early elementary school — we think we might have won from a reading contest or something — that LeVar Burton had on Star Trek. They were pretty sweet.
