What's in your head, Corey Snyder?

March 24, 2009
Interview by William Jones
Corey Snyder, a 21-year-old Morgantown native, is the president of the West Virginia University Snowboard Club.  He has been snowboarding for seven years and is sponsored by WVU Snowboarding, Pathfinder, DC Snowboards and Outerwear, Skullcandy Headphones and Oakley Goggles.

He placed ninth and 12th respectively at the 2008 and 2009 United States of America Snowboard Association Slopestyle Nationals.  These are the tunes that he’s been bumping in his headphones this season.

“Gimme Shelter”

Rolling Stones

“This is my favorite song of all time.  It calms me down and helps me focus in contests when I’m trying something new.”

“Hall of Heroes”

3 Inches of Blood

“This song gets me pumped to huck myself and try new tricks.”

“Finally Movin’ (Remix)”

Pretty Lights

“It’s a long song and has a morphing beat, which is nice to lap the terrain park to.”

“11h30”

Danger

“I first heard it in Elki Helgasson’s video part from the snowboarding video ‘Notes.’  It has a really catchy chorus, even though I don’t know what language it is in.  The tempo is fast and it gets me pumped to land my tricks.”

“Kingdom Come”

Jay-Z

“It just gets me excited to snowboard.  I have never seen a video part to it, and I think it would make a great soundtrack song.”
