It seems like nobody talks about commercials outside the Super Bowl. They’ve fascinated me since I was a kid. Commercials not only tell me what I’m supposed to think about a product — they also tell me what the company thinks about its own product. Sometimes, if I don’t see a certain product’s commercial for years, I wonder, “Aren’t they behind their own product anymore?”
Of course, local commercials are always a treasure trove of silliness. Your town probably has something like a goofy mattress commercial, the local “model” who’s been in every ad you’ve ever seen since you were a kid (whose girlfriend is she, anyway?), or something else that makes you cringe.
