Hollywood has finally learned that it’s never too early to start rolling out the big summer blockbusters and the comic industry is no different. We may only be in the month of May, but several huge storylines have already begun.
Avengers/Invaders No. 1 (Marvel). This 12 issue maxi-series finds the original WWII-era Invaders, including Captain America, Bucky and Namor, thrust into a modern day confrontation with the Avengers. The time-lost heroes may be unprepared to deal with an unrecognizable future, but the world is in for an even bigger shock when they find out the recently deceased Steve Rogers is among them.
Batman No. 676 (DC). When a love interest discovers Bruce Wayne’s secret life, it sends his alter ego into a downward spiral from which he may never recover. “Batman R.I.P.,” with art from Tony Daniel, promises to be the high point of an already outstanding run by superstar writer Grant Morrison.
