Daemons are Forever - Simon R. GreenNew York Times bestselling author Simon R. Green brings a story of a family entrusted in saving the world from the things that go bump in the night in "Daemons Are Forever." Eddie Drood is the new head of the Drood family after uncovering corruption from within and destroying it with the help of his girlfriend and Wild Witch of the Woods, Molly. He also destroyed the otherworldly source of his familyás power, the Heart, which supplied them with torcs, a magical armor. Now Eddie and the people he allows are the only Droods with torcs, which isnát making him very popular in his attempt to rebuild and get the family back toward doing what it does best - fight evil. Eddie is looking to clean up more than a few messes the Droods have made over the years through their corruption and still prove to the other powerful families and organizations in the world that the Droods mean business. He finds one battle that no one can argue against - an other dimensonal raced called The Loathly Ones, that infect and eat the souls of the humans they corrupt. With the help of some strange friends of Molly's, Eddie sets out on training his team how to fight evil without the torcs and to stop the Loathly Ones. But the battle isn't as easy as it looks, and the Loathly Ones are attempting on setting something big and scary loose onto the world. Eddie's going to have to take a hard look at who he can trust and who he can't, who is corrupt and who isn't, and once again, find a way to save both his family and humanity. Or die trying. Green's characters are witty and the action is top-notch. Anyone who likes Jim Butcher's "Harry Dresden" series should give this one a try as it blends mystery, paranormal, double-agents, and snarky heroes into one, action-packed tale. "Daemons Are Forever" is published by Roc. It is $23.95 and 406 pages long. Look for the previous book in the series, "The Man With The Golden Torc" and look for the next in the series, "The Spy Who Haunted Me."
