Arranged by Cahterine McKenzie

June 4, 2012 - Amy Phelps
International bestseller Catherine McKenzie gives a different spin on love and marriage in "Arranged."

Anne Blythe (yes, she's heard all of the "Anne of Green Gables" jokes) has had it with romance. When she finds a card on the street for Blythe & Company, she picks it up because of her name and believes it to be for a dating service. When her best friend announce her engagement, she impulsively calls it and goes in for a meeting, only to find it's not a dating service at all - it arranges marriages! Intrigued, Anne starts researching arranged marriages, talking to wives who have been through it, and finally decides to go for it. Maybe an outside observer can find her the right guy. She goes to a Mexican resort to meet her new husband, and finds he's attractive, witty, interested in her and seems perfect. The two go through with it, and soon they are back home, trying to come up with a good cover story as to how they met. Anne's best friend thinks she's crazy, and Jack doesn't seem to be in a hurry to tell his friends. But Anne's determined to work it out with her new husband. But when a horrible secret comes out, will Anne find herself in divorce court?

I found Anne to be a very sympathetic and relatable unlucky in love, but romantic woman who decides to take a chance in love. I liked Jack at first, and then started disliking him before the twist and then after, never was able to get over it. But the writing is smart and witty and will definitely entertain.

"Arranged" is published by William Morrow. It is $14.99 and 388 pages long.
