| | Jobs helped us connect the dotsOctober 5, 2011 - Art SmithA friend that I have never met has died. Steve Jobs, the creator of all that is cool, is dead. The co-founder of Apple died of cancer. His innovations help change the way we interact with technology through computers, phones, music and even movies. A college dropout, he spent his life defining and refining devices on which we would consume and create a wide variety of media. I have personally been using Apple products since 1982, so to say that his creations have an impact on my life is a little bit of an understatement. Jobs rarely spoke about himself. In 2005 though, he gave one of the most moving speeches I have ever heard. During the only graduation speech he ever gave he told the graduating class at Stanford three stories of his life. They are all great lessons. Take a few minutes now and listen to them. ...you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.
